Nomopoly is a board game based on the concept of Nomic. Basically, you can propose your own rules, and if the majority of the players approve of your proposal, it is accepted and becomes an official rule. The game gets crazy pretty fast.
You can take a look at the previous Nomopoly for an idea of what this game might be like.
Nomopoly is run by Jeff Yakel from Winnipeg, Canada.
Just send me an e-mail at jeffyakel@gmail.com and let me know what username you would like. Depending on the current state of the game, I may or may not be accepting new players (taking into account criteria such as the current number of players, how close the game is to ending, and just how stressed out I am at the time).
If you played the previous Nomopoly game, you'll notice that most of the rules are the same. However, in the interest of fixing some ambiguous and broken rules, I've made the following changes and clarifications to the initial rules:
Of course, if these changes are unpopular, feel free to change things back to the old way.
It means I'm not perfect. Every time the rules are changed, some part of the website will need to be re-programmed. If the website allows a player to do something, there is the chance that the rules don't allow that particular action. This is not a game of "take advantage of bugs", and any actions that are taken will be reverted if they are illegal.
If you have found a bug in the website, please let me know about it so I can fix it, rather than abusing it and making me revert your actions.
Most of the time :) But I do make mistakes, and you should notify me if I have made a mistake. As per rule 2d, players are allowed (and encouraged) to question the Admin's decisions, but ultimately the Admin may make a final judgement.
A turn consists of rolling the dice and moving ahead on the board. You may take a turn no more than once every 3 days.
You may make a proposal at any time, providing you do not have any proposals currently being voted on and you do not have more than one proposal waiting to be implemented.
Almost certainly yes. Rule 10g does give me the right to refuse to implement any proposal.
Note that this is not Imperial Nomic. I will not refuse to implement a proposal simply because I "don't like it". I will only refuse a proposal if the it is illegal or is impossible to implement.
During the first five Nomopoly games, I have never had to refuse to implement a proposal, so don't worry too much about this. If you aren't sure about the legality of your proposal, feel free to ask me about it before posting it.
Also, although technically not illegal, I strongly recommend that you do not propose to increase the rate at which players may make proposals. Remember, I have to program all rule changes, and the game will not be much fun if I cannot keep up.
You will win the game if the game gets stuck (due to an infinite loop or some other sort of logical breakdown of the game) and you are the last player who is able to attempt to perform an action. Other ways to win may also be submitted as proposals.

No. You can use the forum and the in-game mail system to talk to other players.
No. Discussion from outside observers is always welcome!
No, but if you're logged in you can use BBCode.
No.
Hopefully not, and when it does, it won't be for long. The website may be down for very brief periods of time when I am implementing a proposal. These outages shouldn't last long (likely just a few minutes).
Please remember that this website is run entirely by one person. If the website breaks when I'm sleeping or not home, it may be up to a day until I am aware of the problem and am able to get to my computer to fix it.
Keep in mind that the other players are not voting against you, they are voting against your proposal. What one person finds to be a brilliant proposal can seem incredibly stupid to another player. That's just the nature of this game. If you would like to make proposals that other players approve of, you are free to post your proposal on the forum before submitting it. Other players will always be willing to give you feedback and help you create a proposal that everyone will approve of.
After running the first five Nomopolies, here are my observations on how to make a proposal that is likely to be accepted:
Yes, but remember that proposals from previous games likely depend on rules that were in place during that game, and thus a proposal copied word-for-word from a previous game probably won't work.
If you see a great proposal from a previous game that you'd like to add to this game, consider taking ideas from that proposal, and then write the actual proposal yourself.
Let me know about it so I can judge the situation. If the action was in fact against the rules, it will be reverted.
Yes, you can. (In fact, I can almost guarantee that a situation like this will happen at least once during the game). However, please keep in mind that when programming the game, I may not have thought of all ways that the rules may be used/abused (such as using extremely large and/or negative numbers). If you know ahead of time that you may be performing a strange action, it would definitely help if you could let me know so I can ensure that the website can handle it when the time comes.
No. As stated above, Nomopoly is not a game of abusing bugs. Any action that is against the rules will be reverted, and players who are found to be continuously taking advantage of bugs will be warned and eventually removed from the game.
If you find a bug, the correct course of action is to let me know so I can fix it. Please be as descriptive as possible when reporting a bug (i.e. "I got the following error message: '...' when I clicked on the Take a Turn button on Jan 17 at 2:16PM EST" is better than "Board page doesn't work"). A cut and paste of any error message you get would help. Remember, if I can't reproduce the bug, I can't fix it.
Do nothing. Your account will automatically be deleted if you don't log in for 21 days.
That's not a question!
