I think this is a good idea, but I suggest rather than sixes and twelves wounding, any dice which rolls it's maximum should be considered a "Strike" and wounds = (Total pips on Strikes / 6). Thus, d12s strike rarely, but do 2 wounds, and d2s strike half the time, but with 3 there is only a 1 in 8 chance of hitting.
